CD Projekt Red is now a two-franchise studio

CD Projekt has reiterated its commitment to both The Witcher, and Cyberpunk franchises.

In an earnings report for the company’s first half of 2019, CD Projekt revealed a 26% increase in revenue. In the report [PDF], the publisher touched on some key elements of its strategy going forward.

CD Projekt Red said it will continue to manage The Witcher, and Cyberpunk as its two main franchises going forward. This “dual-franchise model” allows the company to work on several projects simultaneously, using the teams’ shared knowledge to further enhance development.

“This migration towards a dual-franchise model supported by several independent product lines also permits optimization of manufacturing and financial activities, mitigates important risk factors and makes it easier for Company employees to seek professional fulfillment,” said the publisher-developer.

This could indicate that more Witcher and Cyberpunk games are in the works, however early in development they might be. It won’t be particularly surprising, either, seeing as this was hinted at a few times before.

CD Projekt also revealed that The Witcher 3 continues to sell really well. Though exact figures weren’t shared, the developer said the game sold more in the first half of 2019 than it did in the same period last year. This isn’t even factoring in the upcoming Witcher 3 Switch port, which arrives in October.
