Walmart Facing Boycott for Removing Video Game Displays but Not Guns

4.3
Walmart is the latest company which is trending on social media as users call for a boycott of the retailer. The call to boycott Walmart from some people comes as a result of the company’s actions following the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. Displays advertising products that involved violence, namely video games, were taken down in stores, an action which was met with criticism as people pointed out that the retailer sells actual guns.

News of Walmart’s decision to take down these type of displays first circulated this week when images of what appeared to be an internal memo surfaced. This memo told employees to remove signing and displays that “contain violent images or aggressive behavior” which included but was not limited to displays advertising video games.

A statement from Walmart issued later said that the company made the decision “out of respect for the incidents of the past week.” The statement added that the decision did not reflect a “long-term change” in Walmart’s plans for games.

That answer appears to have left many people unsatisfied seeing how the “BoycottWalmart” hashtag is trending on Twitter.

Maze America has a real problem and this for sure isn't gonna fix it in any way

The only problem we have are fools like the people who think their "boycott" will do anything. People just want to fit in the crowd and follow everyone else. This boycott is pointless and will achieve nothing.

These kids don't understand capitalism or America.

You really want to boycott something that will make a difference? Too bad, that doesn't exist. Walmart will continue to sell guns, criminals will continue to break the law, and people will die every day, irregardless of the cause.

Not to mention that realistically, even Walmart doest have anything to do with the problem. At least what they sell and how they advertise, no one is gonna go to walmart and buy a BB gun and hunting rifle to do a mass shooting. This is all just a media thing to get people focusing on something else other than actual gun control and fixes to the problems.

Well, thats the thing. Their is no solution to mass shootings, they're going to happen. Criminals will always exist. More pople die in car accidents here, are we going to ban cars? More people die purposelly taking a lot of pills, do we ban medicine?

And lets say taking our guns does work, everyone just hands them over. You do realize they will only confiscate registeted guns (how else will they know who has any). What about all the people who have unregistered guns? (criminals, gangbangers, hilldbillies, etc.)

Life is a risk, deal with it. If you wanna be perfectly safe where you never have to worry about getting killed by someone, move to Antarctica. You can die by the weather or wild animals if that suits you better.

(Using "you" in a general sense, not targeting you.)

Mario350 only in america your allowed to sell guns in stores that arent gun shops, but yeah walmart needs to remove guns from the store floor instead of the games which has been proven before that games doesnt kill idiots mental health and little kids kill people with guns, you shouldnt need a shoot to kill fire arm in store, airsoft guns are more then enough since the ammo in those hurt like a bitch but they dont kill not sure about getting hit in the head with them though.

im just glad im canadian and the walmarts here dont have guns on the floor

lmfao no, an airsoft gun won't kill someone in the head. Unless you're talking about a very specific scenario such as a new born infant being shot multiple times in the head or someone goes and turns an airsoft into a BB gun and even that's rare. You could find more ways to kill someone with a metal straw than you can an airsoft gun. "airsoft guns are more then enough" Enough for what? Incapacitating a person? Nah, that's just someone with no experience of an adrenaline situation talking. If you're at the point where you need to use a gun to save your life, an airsoft gun won't stop someone near the slightest. Hell, most kids have gone around shooting each other with airsoft guns at least once, they don't stop and they're not even in an adrenaline situation, they're having fun with an airsoft gun, even if it may sting for like a second but that's it. A grown adult has a higher pain tolerance than a child unless they're a complete limp wrist. No one in a scenario where "airsoft guns are more then enough" would be intimated by a second from someone loading up an airsoft gun and having to manually rack the slide/bolt/charging handle per shot or someone who may just run out of C02. An airsoft gun won't stop anyone in a situation where you're going to need an actual gun.

Walmart is already strict with what you can buy at their stores. You can't buy a gun and ammo at the same time from them. Walmart hasn't sold handguns since the 90s and you can't buy class III weapons, what that leaves Walmart left to sell are bolt action rifles, .22LR semi auto rifles and clay pigeon shooting shotguns, none of which are going to be used in any scenario for a mass shooting unless someone is so damn desperate to attempt something with those, which won't get them far either from lack of a decent caliber, (legit a leather jacket will make a .22 lose so much of it's stopping power that when it hits your skin it won't do nearly as much as it would otherwise,) bolt action rifles are long, take too long to reload and anyone trying to gun down as many as they can will be fumbling the thing around and give plenty of opportunity for someone to stop them at a close range and most trap/clay pigeon shotguns are 2 shells before a reload. Like it or not, these weapons fall under Hunting/Outdoor sports. Walmart is justified in selling them and makes zero reason to complain about them since no weapons they sell have been used in attacks.

I live in America, but I do not consider myself an American as I'm a Russian citizen first and foremost. I for the most part couldn't care less about what the Americans do with their policies but so many people half ass the thinking and run off emotions with regards to these issues that it's actually annoying. That's not even limited to just a gun debate, literally anything happens within America and everyone decides to base their opinions on emotion and demand everything needs to be changed right then and now, solely from their shock emotions and it's bled into people from outside the country trying to tell the Americans how or what they need to do.

So true man it's insane. People don't even think logically anymore about anything.
