Mortal Kombat 11 Gets New Details on Spawn DLC Through His Own Creator

4.5
Todd McFarlane, Spawn's creator, talks about his feelings on his iconic comic book character's inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11 as a fighter.

During SDCC Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, shares his thoughts and excitement about his character’s inclusion as an upcoming DLC fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. As well as a little teaser for what fans should expect once he drops:

In the video, McFarlane explains how the developers at NetherRealm Studios came to him with an exciting offer: they wanted to include the iconic character in Mortal Kombat 11 as a fellow combatant. McFarlane, who loves the franchise, was more than willing but on one condition. When Spawn appears, he needs to be as over the top, crazy, and gory as possible — more so than other characters in the game.

His reasoning is that if a newcomer to Spawn can pick up this game and fall in love with him based on his moveset alone, then actual Spawn fans would be extremely pleased with his inclusion as well. And true to form, the devs were more than happy to oblige his request as they kept him updated on the character’s development.

And while McFarlane can’t give away any specifics at this time, the huge grin on his face is more than enough proof that his beloved creation is getting the five star Mortal Kombat treatment.

Another long awaited DLC fighter, Nightwolf had been previously teased by Ed Boon in both image and video. Boon teased Sindel’s character model as well, another upcoming DLC fighter. In that model, she’s decked out in her Revenant form as Sindel died in the story of 2011’s Mortal Kombat. In more good news, Mortal Kombat 11‘s official soundtrack is now available on streaming services.

Recently on Twitter Boon had weighed in on the rumors claiming that Sony’s upcoming PS5 will be more powerful when compared to Microsoft’s Xbox Scarlett once both consoles end up hitting the market. He remarked that it’s basically impossible for anyone to know at the moment whether PS5 or Xbox Scarlett will be more powerful than the other once both platforms launch. “How can anyone confidently make either statement without having worked on the final hardware for each?” Boon asked.

You can purchase Mortal Kombat 11 for PS4, Xbox One, or Switch.
