Halo: Reach PC Insider testing begins

3.6
Just as 343 Industries announced last week, Halo: The Master Chief Collection testing has finally commenced on PC, kicking off with a test flight on Steam that gives access to Halo: Reach's Tip of the Spear campaign mission. However, the studio reiterated in today's announcement that this initial flight is "very small," as such only a small portion of players who opted in for the Insider program, less than 1000, are gaining access.

"The team’s goal is to find a way for everyone who is eligible and wants to participate to eventually get an opportunity," said 343 Community Director Brian Jarrard. "Until then, please hang in there and know that even these small flights are critical milestones that get us one step closer to the final release and we can’t do it without the community’s partnership and support."

This flight is being used to test Steam's delivery pipeline for larger flights, see if any fresh bugs pop up on Insider player PC configurations, as well as get feedback on the mouse and keyboard controls. This first test will last until July 1, and those who were selected should already have emails with an invitation and a Steam key waiting for them.

Also, there isn't an NDA in place for this flight, so streams and videos from content creators have already started rolling in. See the video above for a full playthrough of the flight's campaign mission from the developer itself, played at 4K resolution.

Following Halo: Reach's testing phase, 343 Industries plans to have Insider flights for Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, and Halo 4 before their individual launches on PC, so it's a good idea for any interested parties to sign up for the Halo Insider Program. At launch, the games will be available at $10 apiece and via the Xbox Game Pass for PC.
