E3 2019 - Xbox Rewind, All News, Trailers and Project Scarlett

4.2
The company said its new Xbox will launch with the company's next big upcoming space war game, Halo Infinite. That will mark the first time Halo will be a launch title for new Xbox hardware in almost 20 years.

Microsoft's next Xbox, expected to land on retail shelves next year, is coming at a time of transition in the video game world.

Microsoft said the new console will be able to offer frame rates up to 120 frames per second, or twice the average TV. The new device will also include a solid-state drive, Microsoft said, meaning the device will load games much faster than through its older mechanical hard drives.

"A console should be built and optimized for one thing and one thing only: Gaming," Xbox head Phil Spencer said during the company's presentation.

Prior to E3, Microsoft said it was "going big," covering 14 first-party Xbox One titles and several third-party games. There are rumors that this is the E3 where the next-gen Xbox console will be announced.

- Ori and the Will of the Wisps Coming on February 11, 2020
We haven’t heard too much about Ori and the Will of the Wisps since last year. While we got a glimpse of developer Moon Studios’ updated cinematic toolset in late 2017, everything has been seemingly radio silence since last E3 when we saw a brand new trailer and got a general 2019 release window.

As mentioned above, Ori and the Will Wisps will be coming to PC and Xbox One on February 11, 2020. You can see the brand new trailer below:

- New Minecraft Dungeons Trailer And Details Announced
The trailer showed a lengthy look at gameplay from an overhead perspective, along with very Minecraft styled menu screens to equip items and chow down on a turkey leg. The trailer concluded with the announcement of a spring 2020 release window. It will feature 4-player local and online co-op.

- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Trailer Revealed at Xbox E3

- Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date Revealed Along With New Gameplay
You'll be able to visit Night City very soon. Revealed at the Xbox E3 2019 Briefing, Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16, 2020.

It’s the moment much of us have been waiting for since that initial reveal six years ago. Cyberpunk 2077 will launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on April 16, 2020.

The cinematic trailer gives us a small glimpse of the game’s story finishing with a betrayal and some arm slicing violence. Ending the trailer, it is revealed that John Wick and Bill and Ted star, Keanu Reeves will be in the game.

At last year’s E3, the Xbox press conference presented us with the first official trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, giving us a good look at the game’s world. We went behind closed doors to see gameplay at the show for our preview where we said “CD Project Red’s decision to make a sci-fi first-person shooter is bold, especially for a company that has mainly been known for creating third-person fantasy RPGs and card games.” Inevitably, that section of gameplay was revealed to the public.

- Blair Witch Gets Debut Trailer
Blair Witch will launch on PC and Xbox One on August 30.

- Battletoads Gameplay Trailer Revealed
Last E3, Microsoft announced a new Battletoads for Xbox One and PC. This E3, Microsoft revealed out first look at the game from DLaLa Studios, via a new gameplay trailer. Unfortunately, there was no word of a release date, but we do know it will hit sometime this year.

As you may know, after a spew of games in the 1990s, we haven't seen the series since. In fact, we haven't seen a new release from it since 1994, which was 25 years ago. In other words, it's quite remarkable it's making a coming back, but not a huge surprise given how much Xbox boss Phil Spencer cherishes the series.

Spencer has been teasing a new game in the series from yesteryear basically since 2014, but it wasn't until last year we actually heard anything concrete about a project in development. It's improtant to note that the series' original developer, Rare, is not on the project, though they may be acting as some type of creative consultant.

- Spiritfarer Revealed at E3 2019
Spiritfarer will release for Xbox One and PC, with no confirmed release date or window at this time. For a closer look, you can check out the reveal trailer from E3 2019 below:

- Xbox Acquires Double Fine Productions
Just like E3 2018, for 2019, Microsoft came packing some acquisition announcements. So, who did it pick up this time? Double Fine, a long-running indie studio know for some legendary adventure games. In other words, it's a big grab.

This entire generation Microsoft has been criticized for its lack of first-party games. And it looks like its answer to this is buying up studios to make games for them. Last year they bought Obsidian, InXile Entertainment, Compulsion Games, Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Undead Labs, and opened a new studio called The Initiative.

Of course, acquiring studios isn't an automatic fix. Micrsoft needs quality not just quantity. And a lot of the studios it has acquired yet haven't prove they can ship games on the same level that first-party Nintendo and PlayStation studios are making. In other words, it will be interesting to see if this strategy pays off. Presumably, with more resources at their disposal, these studios will presumably will only ship better games they have in the past.

What's perhaps most interesting about Microsoft's acquisitions is that it's adding a wide range of developers to its arsenal who make a wide range of different games that span across different genres. In other words, it's building a portfolio, which is a bit different than what PlayStation has done this generation: which is make a lot of single-player narrative driven games that are either open-world action-RPGS or action adventure games.

- Lego Star Wars Revealed; Coming 2020

To coincide with the end of the Skywalker saga in theaters, the intellectual property that kickstarted Traveller’s Tales line of licensed LEGO titles will receive its own capper.

Previous entries in this Lego subseries include the first Lego Star Wars game that depicted the full prequel film trilogy, shortly followed by a sequel that reinterpreted the original trilogy with the same, silent, quirky sense of humor from the first game. With no more live-action films to adapt at the same time, Traveller’s Tales focused on the 3D animated show The Clone Wars for the series’ third game.

- Gears 5 Release Date Revealed
One of Microsoft’s powerhouse series expectedly made an appearance during the Xbox showcase at E3 with Gears 5 taking the stage in the form of a new trailer. The new game was first announced last year during the same event, and on the year of its release, we’ve gotten a fresh look at its new characters and the story that players will find themselves a part of.

It was hard to imagine Gears 5 not making an appearance during the show seeing how big of a name it is in Microsoft’s library, but speculation about it being shown at E3 was put to rest when the publisher confirmed that it would be there. And it was with a release date of September 10, 2019.

Gears 5 is indeed the next main game in the Gears of War saga even though it dropped the full name that preceded the other installations. The name change was addressed in the past when Rod Fergusson, the head of The Coalition studio that creates the Gears of War games, explained that the change was the result of the Gears of War franchise expanding beyond just the main games.

“‘Gears of War’ is still the franchise name but now that we’re doing a family of products it made more sense to shorten the titles down – Gears Pop, Gears Tactics & Gears 5,” Fergusson said about the change. “Plus we always just call it Gears anyway so it feels good to simplify it.”

You’ll play as Kait in Gears 5, a new character in the Gears of War universe who will fight across what Microsoft says is the biggest Gears of War world to date. Players will also find out more about the start of the Locust, the force that’s been threatening the people of Gears since the very first game.

“The world is crumbling. Humanity’s reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors,” Microsoft’s site said about the game. “As Kait you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight with your squad to protect what’s left.”

Since it’s a first-party game from Microsoft, Gears 5 will also be added to the Xbox Game Pass service immediately when it launches. Now that Xbox Game Pass is coming to PC platforms, you’ll be able to easily play Gears 5 there as well.

Gears 5 is scheduled to release on September 10.

- Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, Reveals New Trailer
This newest trailer also teases more of the story content as it seems to encapsulate from the Saiyan saga to the final battle against Freeza during the Namek saga. It looks like a mix of the games that have come from before, but the high flying ki blasts definitely paint it as a much different kind of beast from Dragon Ball games of franchise past.

- Age Of Empires 2: Definitive Edition Gameplay Revealed
One of the PC's most storied strategy games, Age Of Empires 2, is getting the remastered treatment with Age Of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. A new trailer for it debuted at the Xbox E3 2019 press conference.

- 12 Minutes Trailer Revealed
12 Minutes tells the story of a man who is trapped in a time loop. The first gameplay alluded to this when you see him seated with his wife and starts talking about events that are about to happen with a mysterious man. It was pretty tense stuff, but don't take out word for it; watch the gameplay trailer below.

Published by Annapurna Interactive, 12 Minutes is coming to the Xbox Store sometime in the future. In regards to the timeframe, no other details have been confirmed.

- Crossfire X Trailer Revealed at Xbox's E3 2019
The mysterious game from Smilegate, Crossfire X, will be heading first to Xbox One, as revealed in at Xbox's E3 2019 Press Conference.

It isn’t immediately clear what Crossfire X by developer Smilegate is, but if one thing is for sure — it looks awesome. Seeming to be a military-oriented game in multiple settings, we got the first glimpse of a very cinematic trailer that leaves us wanting more. According to Phil Spencer, the game will be coming first on consoles to Xbox One sometime in 2020.

- Dying Light 2 Out in Spring 2020
Techland’s Dying Light 2 had an appearance at Xbox’s E3 2019 presser but it didn’t present the complex story decisions that will dictate the world’s development. Instead, we learned more about the protagonist Aiden, who’s infected by the way. He doesn’t want society to fall apart after the virus took over. Check it out below.

The trailer did feature what seems to be gameplay as Aiden outruns the Infected, including one cool sequence where he tackles a zombie off of a roof and uses it for landing. How will the infection influence his abilities? Will Aiden have to gather materials to fight it off?

We’ll find out in Spring 2020 when Dying Light 2 releases for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It’s being published by Square Enix and we’ll likely see more gameplay from its upcoming presser. Stay tuned for more details from Xbox at E3 2019 – there’s about an hour or so of announcements to come.

Developer Undead Labs is calling this their biggest expansion yet. You can watch the trailer yourself below.

- New Borderlands 3 Trailer Revealed
The trailer was a brief one compared to the other looks that we’ve seen so far, but it gave an equal amount of the spotlight to each of the four Vault Hunters. Zane and Amara are the two characters we’ve seen the most of in the past, so it looks like we’ll still be waiting a while longer to get an in-depth look at FL4K and Moze, though we know Moze’s big gameplay preview should be coming soon.

- Elden Ring Announced, First Trailer Teases Burning Skies
Elden Ring was leaked before the Xbox E3 2019 presser and will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC courtesy of Bandai Namco Entertainment. Project Scarlett

- Halo Infinite Is A Xbox Scarlett Launch Title
Last E3, Microsoft announced Halo Infinite, the next installment in the popular Xbox and PC franchise. Today, during Microsoft's E3 2019 presser, Microsoft and 343 Industries returned with the Xbox One and PC game, and this time had a lot more to show and say about it. For example, it's releasing fall 2020 on Xbox One, PC, and Project Scarlett (the next Xbox).

Halo Infinite is the third chapter in the Reclaimer Saga, and follows the events of Halo 5: Guardians. That said, while it's a follow-up to Halo 5, as you can see, it doesn't have the number six anywhere in its title. And that's because 343 Industries considers it a "spiritual reboot."

"We're kind of calling it a 'spiritual reboot,'" said 343 Industries boss Bonnie Ross. "That's kind of how we talk about it. There has been a lot of introspective time to really reflect on what [we have] done as 343. Where have we made mistakes? Where have we hit it right? What does Halo mean to all of us?

343 Industries has also talked about the game as the "next generation" of Halo, and a game that will be equally friendly to die-hard fans and newcomers. To achieve this, 343 Industries has created a brand-new engine, the Slipspace engine, which is also partially why the game is taking longer than normal. And reportedly Microsoft is also dumping a ton of resources into the game, with one report claiming it's currently the most expensive project in gaming. Meanwhile, one Xbox insider claims "careers will be made or broken" on how well the game does. In short, 343 Industries is going all out on this one, and it today at E3, it showed that.

Halo Infinite will be available on Xbox One, Project Scarlett & PC when it releases.

- Xbox Project Scarlett Details Revealed
While the current generation of consoles is still going strong, many eyes are on what is to come in the future. Sony has already gotten started on revealing information on the PlayStation 5, promising that it is going to be quite the impressive machine with some serious specs. Seeing as they've decided to sit out on this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the spotlight is entirely on Microsoft to bring their entirely new hardware to the table, and they've done just that with the announcement of Project Scarlett.

During the Xbox press conference, Xboss Phil Spencer touched on the new Xbox, which has been codenamed "Project Scarlett." Previous teasers have seemingly pointed to the reveal of the new console during their presser, and now we know some more details of what is to come.

Much like the PlayStation 5, the upcoming generation of Xbox hardware will bolster 8K capabilities along with up to 120 FPS. Of course, the company will be continuing their trend of backwards compatibility, with the upcoming console set to be able to handle all previous Xbox consoles' software. With a partnership with AMD, the next Xbox will have ray tracing, variable frame rate, a new generation of SSD that is used as virtual RAM, and so much more.

In addition to this, it will be four times more powerful than the Xbox One X, which is the current most powerful console. This is surely exciting for console fans in general. There are going to be quicker load times and a bounty of goodies that will be one powerhouse of hardware that gamers everywhere will want to get hands on.

The processor itself is going to be unique to Project Scarlett and will power the monster of a device. Luckily, fans won't have to wait terribly long for the upcoming system, as it will be arriving during the holiday season of 2020. In addition to this, Halo Infinite will be a launch title.

Xbox__Live Why buy the new xbox when you can play most upcoming titles like Gears 5 and Halo Infinite on PC :)

Because consoles gaming is easiest way to game without the other necessity's that come with pc

RuiPosted:

XRV6 I don't know how I feel about a new console already, people just invested in the One X recently, including me thinking it was going to be that for a while, and with all these games coming out soon, I hate that there's a chance they'll divide those communities again with one group on the Xbox One, and the next group on the Scarlett. I pre-ordered MW2019, and if they release the Scarlett, I'm definitely not going to want to re-buy it again, and restart my progress. If my game and progress can carry over, that's perfect, but if not, I may not go for it, because I'm tired of buying the same game multiple times across platforms when it's all in all the same exact thing.

Everything has carried over? Game data is saved twice once on the console and then in the cloud for when you sign in to a new console
