Modern Warfare 3 Dev Sees No Similarities to Game and 9/11

4.6
nfinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has said the Russian attack on New York City in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will not evoke imagery of 9/11.

Bowling was grilled by msxbox-world on whether he was worried that the Russian attack on New York City would cause offence.

"I'm not too worried about it because the conflict that's raging in Modern Warfare 3 is very different from any real life scenario - because this is a war, this is a full-on Russian military invasion of the entire US that started in Modern Warfare 2," said Bowling.

"They have already disabled Washington DC and the war has just organically been progressing off the East Coast, and New York is a major city that would... So this is very different because it's full-on military fighting through the streets, so I think that's going to be very clear once people play it, and get hands-on, and see what type of conflict this is, and then it spreads to the other major cities."

Of course, Bowling neglected to remember (spoiler alert) that it was actually Captain Price that disabled Washington DC in the 10/10 scoring Modern Warfare 2 by detonating a nuclear missile in outer chuffing space.

Modern Warfare 3 will be released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on November 8.

slaughtercell Fox news is the most dominant cable news network in the United States... Robert Bowling is just making sure his game gets the free publicity even if Fox News doesn't say anything about the game

Then a lot of idiots like watching bias news.

Just like books, paintings, and movies, gaming is considered an art. It tells a story of its own filled with imagination, inspired by the world around us. Just because of the content of its consumers, and that it has been introduced more recently then the previous examples, it is an incredibly easy target for the media. There is no reason for people to be upset over this, simplely because its located within New York. Why would IW choose NY if the thought of connecting it to 9/11 was even thought of as a possibility? I could list a million different reasons why they would choose NY as a playing field for this storyline that have no bed intentions behind them. I am 16 years old and I enjoy gaming. Its just a way to pass time and explore our imaginations with various scenarios, and make us truly think. It is, in many ways no different then our other forms of media in that way, but at the same time it boasts a unique element: You. Play your games and enjoy them, but dont get this damn serious about it.

How when in a game if we go blow up someone else's country and there is no problem. But when they attack us people are like, OMG this is 9/11 or OMG this is promoting terrorism because we have only been attacked 1 in a decade.
