Apex Legends Revenue Further Drops in April

3.8
Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends started hot but has more or less fizzled out after launch. According to SuperData Research, the free to play battle royale title managed to generated $24 million in April 2019. Unfortunately, this figure is almost a quarter of the amount made in February when it launched.

There a number of reasons for this drop. The $10 Battle Pass and the cosmetics offered were viewed as underwhelming by a number of players. Furthermore, Respawn has been trying to iron out a number of glitches while also combating cheaters. The frequency of updates is perhaps the biggest culprit, however.

Respawn isn’t releasing updates at the same clip as Fortnite: Battle Royale, a fact the developer acknowledged. The desire to avoid crunch and burnout for its development team was cited, which is well and good (especially given reports about crunch on Fortnite). Sadly, money talks and if an audience finds new content with a competitor that’s worth spending on, so be it.

Season 2 is coming up soon for Apex Legends and we’ll potentially get another Legend out of it. Stay tuned for more details on the same as E3 2019 rolls around.

I still think the game is decent, I'd prefer it over most BRs, but I will not spend money on it. None of the cosmetics are worth it.

They really messed this game up with the battle pass. Underwhelming is an understatement. It was horrible. Literally there was nothing worth getting or grinding for. I'm order to keep this hype on this game and keep players interested, they need to update more often, add LTMs for some variety, and more content more frequently. It's pretty boring as is. Would like to see a couple new game modes added in and maybe some unique weapons that have a skill gap. Like the halo rail gun or a noob combo... something like that.

People are still continuing to play it.

I stopped playing within the first two weeks of the launch, it's not really an interesting game at all. I was a huge fan of Battle Royale games when H1Z1 dropped but it's just been oversaturated and I'm sick of it.

The lack of updates paired with the many bugs in the game were annoying for sure, but I lost all interest after how bad the Battle Pass was. There was absolutely nothing worth grinding for.
