Mortal Kombat 11’s PC launch player count was almost triple MK10

4.4
Mortal Kombat 11 debuted at no.10 on Steam, and its concurrent player count dwarfed recent fighting game releases including MK10 and Injustice 2.

GitHyp reports that last week’s Mortal Kombat 11 release saw the game launch on Steam an no.10 – a huge step up from the franchise’s last instalment which didn’t even crack the top 50. The new title also managed to amass a concurrent player count of 35k, which is almost three times that of Mortal Kombat 10’s peak launch concurrent player count of 14k.

Both still fared better than NetherRealms’ 2017 offering, Injustice 2, whose peak concurrents only managed to reach 1.8k. The only recent Fighter that MK11 hasn’t toppled with its player count is Dragon Ball Fighter Z. The game hit 44k concurrent players at launch.

Shortly after launch, players voiced their concerns over the game’s Krypts and Towers of Time. The devs promised a couple of hot fixes to resolve the issue as well as gifting free Koins to make up for the unbalanced gameplay.
