Xbox 720 and PS4 not out until 2014

The next consoles from Sony and Microsoft will not launch until three years' time, predicts GameStop.

Senior executives from the US retail giant made the claim during a series of investor meetings, according to financial research firm Baird.

A statement read: "Management does not expect new hardware consoles from Microsoft and Sony until 2014; however, a successful launch of Nintendo's Wii U in 2012 could add pressure to accelerate a hardware refresh.

"GameStop is also upbeat on the coming launch of Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld gaming device, which has a $249 price-point within the reach of many gamers.

"As for the motion controller launched a year ago, management indicated more software is needed to maintain sales momentum."

i believe ps4 will be after 720 so sony can test the 720 and make things better so hopefully they can have a system comeback i guess its the waiting

Microsoft is gonna need a sooner release date. Xbox 360 is becoming an aging old man with alzheimers.

BraddieBoi This is too long.. the original xbox 360 can't keep up with 3 years ahead.. think about games like La Noire.. it has come in several discs because the xbox DL DVD's that games are put on can't hold over 7.5GB of data

That is completely irrelevant to anything he just said. The fact is, PS3 reads blue ray, which make DVD's look like a PS2 memory card.

Of course the Xbox outsold the PS3. MORE PEOPLE HAVE XBOX's.

Thank god, this generation of systems are already expensive enough. Plus, these systems already work well and have amazing graphics and good player interfaces.

The only reason it out sold is because more people own Xbox360s', which I honestly don't understand.
