Cloud storage for Xbox 360 goes live

4.7
It is now possible to recover gamertags and save data across different Xbox 360s thanks to the arrival of the new cloud storage for the console.

The decision to go cloud based was announced by Microsoft at this years E3, which also saw a demonstration of the revamped Xbox 360 UI.

Currently the service only works with select Xbox Live Arcade games, which can be downloaded and saves resumed from any console. This means an end to transporting saves via hard-drives and memory units. It also allows you to easily grab gamertag details when you head round to a friends for a gaming sesh on their console. Microsoft points, friends and achievements are now also stored up in the cloud.

Expect the cloud service to hit the Xbox 360 lineup in its entirety when Microsoft releases the UI update.

Are you local? Or do you like heading to the cloud?

I think this whole cloud idea is stupid. Just look at the ChromeBook with all your data stored on the cloud. Do you really want the government looking through all your stuff?

Wait so does this mean that we will be able to gameshare map packs and such now?

I already have my gamertag on a memory card and carry that back and forth from my mom and dads. But this cloud thing would be nice.

Darkstar47 I wonder how long its going to take before someone cracks the cloud..

Never, you cannot imagine the lawsuits if someone hacked Microsoft.

Not to mention the security they have.

what happened to the guy that hacked major nelson's account and basically advertised hacking several other gamertags? i didnt hear any lawsuits about him... were there any?

That guy did not hack Major Nelsons account it was someone else on the XBL enforcement team and he didn't "hack" it. That guy got the info for the account from the enforcement members personal website. So no hacking was involved therefore no lawsuit.

Haha, that made me laugh xD

However, I do agree. It would prefer to store the saves on my HDD.

I'm a bit worried about this, if there is no more device storage then there is no more modding. Are you going to be able to have an option to save it to your hard drive or is this a new way of storing?
