Halo Infinite won’t skip Xbox One, confirms O’Connor

Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor has once again reiterated that Halo Infinite is a PC, and Xbox One game.

With talk about the next generation of consoles heating up, and the absence of a solid release date for Halo Infinite, rumours are going around that the game won’t even make it out on current hardware.

Microsoft has always said that Halo Infinite is coming to PC, and Xbox One, but I suppose it doesn’t hurt to ask again; which one fan did on Twitter, leading Frank O’Connor to confirm that yes, Halo Infinite will be available on PC as well as Xbox One when it launches.

Of course, that doesn’t preclude a simultaneous release on other, unannounced platforms. Assuming Halo Infinite doesn’t release this year – which is likely – that would mean it’s probably a 2020 game. With most reports pointing to a late-2020 start for the next console generation, it’s a fair bet Halo Infinite will be a cross-generation game.

This is all speculation of course, but don’t expect Microsoft to talk hard details until we’re closer to launch. You can’t announce a game for a console that doesn’t exist yet, obviously.

In other Halo Infinite news, head of developer 343 Industries recently revealed that the team views the game as a spiritual reboot, and confirmed we’ll be hearing more at E3.
