Flower is now available on PC via Steam, GOG, or the Epic Games Store as part of its 10th anniversary of bringing joy and peace to others.

Flower, the second title from famed developer thatgamecompany, is now available for PC on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for $6.99.

It was ten years ago on February 12, 2009 that Flower first debuted on the PlayStation 3. At that time the only previous thatgamecompany title was Flow, which released in 2006. Their next title was the universally acclaimed Journey in 2012, which is also coming to PC soon. In 2013 the Smithsonian added Flower to its permanent collection as, “Video games represent a vast, diverse and rapidly evolving new genre that is crucial to our understanding of the American story,” and Flower was a good representation of that, alongside Halo 2600.

Flower was ported to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita by Bluepoint Games, same people behind the recent Shadow of the Colossus remake, and an iOS version was published by Annapurna Interactive in 2017. Annapurna is also the publisher behind this Windows PC version. thatgamecompany is currently working on their next project, Sky, separately from Sony Interactive Entertainment. Not a whole lot is known about their new project aside from a brief gameplay video and the details that it will release on iOS, iPad, and Apple TV and will have a much larger, social, multiplayer component than any of their past games.

In Flower players control the wind as they bring petals throughout various landscapes, accumulating more petals and using them to restore dead area. When developing Flower, thatgamecompany was seeking to evoke emotions beyond excitement and frustration, instead providing, “an escape from stress and loneliness.” While the original version relied on the Sixaxis motion controls of the original PlayStation 3 controller, thankfully you won’t need one for this version. This PC version has also been optimized for 4K graphics for those who have compatible hardware. You can view the brief trailer, as well as some screens, below.
