Apex Legends May Come to China Thanks to EA and Tencent Partnership

Electronic Arts and Tencent are supposedly in talks with each other over bringing the popular battle royale game to China.

According to a report by The South China Morning Post today, Electronic Arts and Tencent are in discussions over bringing the widely popular and fast-moving battle royale to China. Apex Legends has surprised many in such a short space of time, gathering interest with games everywhere by the day so, its no surprise that it’s looking for its place among the Chinese market.

If this were to happen, the player count for Apex Legends would grow quite notably – It’s also worth noting that Fortnite only went to China last year in April while Apex Legends, even though it has only been released for 11 days, is apparently getting that chance much sooner.

Tencent already has a bursting portfolio with two other massive Battle Royale style games that include PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite so adding Apex Legends, and with its current popularity, could be a clever move by the publishers right now. Although this report hasn’t been confirmed as yet due to the person who provided this information wanting to remain anonymous, but rumors had already begun to spread on the website Chinese microblogging Sina Weibo.

At the start of February, rumors had started to circulate that Respawn Entertainment would announce and release a new game within a week and sure enough, up pops Apex Legends the very next day after that report, and during the Super Bowl, to say that it would release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. Since then, there has been never-ending news about the Titanfall universe Battle Royale title with trailers, live streams, microtransaction talks, and two key characters being revealed as LGBTQ , there’s no telling where the game will go to next, but if reports are correct, it may just be flying off to China.

Apex Legends is available for free on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

This would add more players . Plus it's just pretty cool.

Would definitely bring in a lot more players, but at the same time, a lot more hackers. Deny it all you want, but with the influx of players from China comes an influx of new and consistent hacks. It's happened with every battle royale game released in China thus far, and is still happening as we speak. The anti-cheat on Apex Legends is highly invasive so I actually don't doubt the reliability of it.

PS: Close all programs on your PC when you open Apex Legends. If you're like me and use Nvidia Inspector over Nvidia Control Panel to change graphical settings, your account will be banned for even having it open while the game is running.
