Fallout 76 is Getting a New PvP Mode Called Survival, Now in Beta

4.5
The controversial online game Fallout 76 from Bethesda has a new "more dangerous" PvP game mode in beta, titled Survival.
While Bethesda’s online shooter Fallout 76 has attracted ire from critics and players alike, the game company is still moving forward with some new gameplay modes. The developer revealed details on their blog about Survival, a player-versus-player mode now in beta.

Survival will be one of the two options on the game’s main menu, the other being the Adventure mode that players are undoubtedly familiar with. Survival will share all of the same quests, events, and story elements as Adventure, but expect a more hostile environment this time around.

Whereas the PvP system in Adventure mode requires different parties to opt in, Survival does away with this system. Instead, all other players not on your team or participating in an event with you are marked hostile—shoot on sight all you like.

Bethesda clarifies that older characters will work in Survival mode, while also encouraging players to perhaps make a new one for this new PvP mode. With existing characters, all progress will carry over between both Adventure and Survival modes.

Level scaling will work the same as it does in Adventure, with Bethesda saying that this will level the playing field, regardless of player level—newer characters created for this mode will still have a fighting chance against higher-level characters that players may bring in from Adventure.

With this mode just being in a beta state, Bethesda will continue to update and iterate on the rules and the set of features. For one, death mechanics is something that the developer mentions that they are experimenting on.

For example, at its current state, “players who die in Survival mode will be unable to use the seek revenge respawn option against their aggressors and can only choose to respawn at their C.A.M.P. or Vault 76.” Additionally, Bethesda is “also planning to award you double the Caps when you kill another player, and they may drop their Aid or other items in addition to their Junk.”

Finally, Bethesda reveals that Survival mode will have leaderboards, while also detailing upcoming update “Patch 5.” In other news, players have been poking around the online game, which Bethesda says will not be free-to-play anytime soon—one such location someone found was a secret developer room with a number of unreleased items.

I missed the chance at this, definitely seemed pretty dope though I must say.

Maze This sounds fun, I know it's what a lot of people expected as well. Glad they are adding it but it's probably too late tbh

Yeah I think by now people already sold back their digital copies. Or requested refunds for the PC versions.
