Halo Master Chief Collection for Xbox One will be getting some exciting news at SXSW, and our predictions may be a bit of a Reach...

SXSW is going to be a hotbed of Halo for competition this March, but it also has 343 gearing up to make a big announcement regarding Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, according to a 343 blog post.

“Not only will you be treated to amazing matches and gameplay, but we’ve also got some exciting MCC news to reveal during the show.” 343 said.

Of course, that is insanely vague, but with all of the recent work that’s gone into repairing the Master Chief Collection, SXSW does seem like the ideal place to make a big announcement for the game. SXSW is going to be home to the Halo Championship Series Invitational from March 15-17.

As mentioned above, it’s hard to speculate on this announcement. It could be something as big as Halo: The Master Chief Collection being ported to PC, or even the addition of Halo: Reach to the MCC.

Fans have been clamoring for Halo to be ported to PC for as long as I can remember. With the introduction of Microsoft’s “Play Anywhere” initiative which brings games to both the Xbox One console and Windows 10, you’d think that 343 would be forced to eventually include a Halo game on PC. Though we may have to wait till Halo 6 to see the game on PC.

Halo: Reach is also a possibility since the game was omitted from the Master Chief Collection, there have been fans (myself included) who want to be able to play the game again as it was back then. Halo: The Master Chief Collection, having undergone serious server stability maintenance and almost an entire service overhaul, seems like an excellent place to reimagine the game.

Then again, this could just be an announcement regarding the Halo Championship Series Invitational and the way the tournament is played.

We’ll just have till March to find out more. If you aren’t heading to SXSW 343 assures fans that they’ll be able to tune in to listen to the announcement via live stream.
