Resident Evil 2 DLC is being considered by Capcom

4.2
Paying for an extra bit of content is pretty much the norm for gaming now, and in a move that should surprise no one, Capcom recently said in an interview that players could very well see some Resident Evil 2 DLC after the remake launches later this week. Capcom hasn’t provided any concrete details surrounding post-launch content for the moment, saying the current priority for the team is the game’s launch.

Speaking in an interview with Saudi Gamer, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said plans for DLC were being spoken about, but that the team “will not think about another project until we finish [Resident Evil 2].” The Resident Evil series has always taken its time with DLC, with the Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7 being delayed initially and the game’s paid DLC taking several months to prepare. It seems that Capcom could be using a similar approach with Resident Evil 2.

Director Kazunori Kadoi also spoke during the interview on the topic of a fixed-camera option popping up. Kadoi explained that at the “beginning of the development we did many experiments with the camera,” saying the team explored the possibility of letting players use the modern over-the-shoulder view or reverting back to the original fixed camera view. Kadoi said the team eventually realized “the importance of focusing all of our efforts on one camera and showing them as well as possible.” Whether or not the option will be revisited after the game’s launch remains to be seen, but the option to switch between the old and new cameras would surely be a welcome choice for fans.

It feels like we’ve reached fever pitch with the lead up to the Resident Evil 2 Remake now. The game’s 1-Shot demo managed to hit an impressive one-million downloads after just four days, though that number only translated to around 29 percent of players actually completing the demo. This could have been down to the time limit the demo imposed, with players being locked out after half an hour. Kadoi actually tackled this subject in the interview, suggesting that it was simply down to different play styles rather than being a difficulty issue.

A DLC will definitely push this game beyond its limits. This game is already awesome.

I would like to see DLC, hopefully it's nothing that will ruin the legacy of the game thoigh.

I think it would be a good idea to expand on this game, the demo was amazing.
