Blackout mode from Black Ops 4 will have a free trial period from January 17 until the 24th.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode is one of the newest battle royale contenders on the block and clearly, Activision thinks it’s the best of the bunch. To prove as much, it was announced today that Blackout will be free-to-play for everyone starting later this week so that you can get in on the action, assuming you haven’t already.

Blackout’s trial period will kick off on Thursday, January 17, and will last for seven days until January 24. The free phase will also be available across all of the platforms in which Black Ops 4 is available: PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

This is the second time in the past month that Activision has tried to make the Blackout portion of Black Ops 4 just a bit more enticing to fans. Last month on PC, Activision released a Battle Edition of Black Ops 4 which contained only the multiplayer and Blackout portions of the game for a lower cost of $29.99. It seems that Blackout specifically is where the publisher is trying to hook-in players, and you can’t really blame them given the success of the battle royale genre over the past year or two.
