2018 might be dead and gone at this point, but we’re still in the midst of learning who the year’s biggest winners and losers were when it comes to sales.
Today, more of that information came to light when PlayStation announced the top-downloading games on its digital storefront for the entirety of 2018. To the shock of I’m sure not many, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 ended up being the year’s top PS4 title with Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 following behind in second place. Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War, and Grand Theft Auto V rounded out the top five for games on PS4, in that order.
On the PlayStation VR front, Job Simulator ended up being the most-purchased game of the year, likely due to it being on sale quite often. Perhaps 2018’s most talked-about VR game in Beat Saber followed behind in second with Superhot VR coming in at third.
As for the storefront’s other major charts, Fortnite unsurprisingly ended up being the most-downloaded free-to-play title of the year while God of War: Collection PS Vita took home the top spot for the Vita charts in 2018. Clearly, many were trying to catch up on older God of War titles before 2018’s installment landed.
