Red Dead Online’s Reported Leaks Hint at Battle Royale Mode

4
Red Dead Online, the multiplayer counterpart to the recently released Red Dead Redemption 2, is launching today, November 27, for owners of the Ultimate Edition of the game and then rolling out in the remaining days of the week depending on when you played the game.

The fact that Online releases into what Rockstar are nicknaming a “Beta” in just three hours has not stopped data-miners and leakers from reportedly getting their hands on early content. In the initial date announcement, Rockstar said they’d give more information regarding “gameplay, modes and more” today.

Well, you might not have to hold your breath for that – as rumored leaks from data-miner Illogical Mods have surfaced which show a lot of jobs and playlists which should be playable separately from Red Dead Online‘s free-roam hallmark. Do take them with a grain of salt, however, as nothing is confirmed until the Beta launches later today.

In the playlists, there is a large variety of job types and one notable type is that of “Make It Count.” Earlier this year, Trusted Reviews leaked a large amount of online and single-player features and one of the more notable leaks that they released was a planned Battle Royale mode. It’d turn out they’d have to pay £1 million after a lawsuit a few months later, however.

The “Make It Count” job is described within the “leak” as “A true test of resourcefulness: use nothing but a bow and a handful of arrows to be the last one standing. With a gradually shrinking player area, there’s nowhere to run.” Sounds a lot like that Battle Royale mode, eh? It’s not Rockstar’s first rodeo with the mode, as they added a similar one to Grand Theft Auto Online last year—titled “Motor Wars.”

There are many more details in the full list, which you can view on the data-miners Twitter account. If all is taken as true, it seems that we’ll be getting story missions and the honor system will make a return into Online. A frequent similarity between the story-related jobs seems to be that it will end with a moral decision in which the player decides the fate of an NPC.

“Love and Honor: Horley told you to call on the Tumbleweed Sheriff. A young woman has been taken by a gang of outlaws and her husband is concerned. A moral decision will be required.”

Quite a few of these have “moral decisions” that are required, so we could assume that the honor system will have a direct effect in Online on both your character and possibly your camp.

Red Dead Online Beta rolls out this week on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for owners of Red Dead Redemption 2.

This has really put me off the game if im being honest, not a fan of BR at all ffs.

Dismiss Of course they'll jump on the BR bandwagon.

Rockstar is basically a pioneer for BR though. If my memory serves me right they had a BR type mode in gTA

Seems like a simple version of a BR with a lower amount of RNG like usual. Not surprised to see this since they did it in GTA, but it will never be a huge BR like fortnite, blackout, PUBG, etc. this is just one of the probably hundreds of gamestypes RDD will receive over the years.

Of course they'll jump on the BR bandwagon.

Now this caught my attention for sure. Looking forward to playing online once I get the chance.

I personally think it'll get a lot of attention for the future. RD has always been a massive topic. Let alone BR.
