Grand Theft Auto V Has Now Finally Shipped 100 Million Units

4.2
During Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call for the end of Q2 fiscal year 2019, it was revealed that Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V has once again passed another major milestone.

Take-Two announced near the start of today’s call that Grand Theft Auto V has now sold-in (shipped to retail) 100 million units across all platforms. The last time that we were updated on GTA V’s sales earlier in the year that number was still sitting at 95 million, so it isn’t much of a shock that it has cleared that 100 million mark at this time.

Grand Theft Auto V has now officially become the third game all-time to pass the 100 million mark, with the only other in the modern age being that of Minecraft. Tetris has also technically surpassed 100 million as well and sits as the highest-selling game ever, but considering it has been released and re-released on a litany of different platforms, its listing comes with a bit of a caveat. It’ll be interesting to see if sales for GTA V finally begin to slow down over the next year or so now that Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the market.

Sure, there are a lot of people who will have bought multiple copies of the game, either for PC and console or other various reasons, but this works out to be an average of around 1 copy of GTA sold per 75 people on Earth. Absolutely mind boggling amount of games sold.

Jeez that is insane, even though the game was released on PS3 and 360, then released again for PC, PS4, and Xbox One it makes sense since a lot of people had to buy it multiple times(like me) but it is worth it, GTA V is one of the greatest games ever.

One of the greatest games I ever played, the story sucked me in and I loved the ability to switch between three characters at a time.
