Battlefield 5 to have 30Hz Tick Rate on Consoles, 60Hz on PC at Launch

4.4
The server tick rate for a multiplayer game is how many times a game communicates in data packages to and from the server. Essentially, the higher the server tick rate, the better (since there is less potential for lag and players skipping around all over the map that way).

DICE has confirmed that the server tick rate for Battlefield 5 will be 30Hz on consoles, and 60Hz on PC. In simple language, this means that the console versions of Battlefield 5 will communicate with the server 30 times per second, while the PC version communicates 60 times per second. It’s an okay figure for the console versions, but don’t despair either way. DICE has also confirmed that the tick rate across the board will be improved after launch.

This is, however, still better than Black Ops 4, which has a server tick rate of 20Hz for the Blackout mode—meaning even the console versions of Battlefield 5 are one and a half times better.

Battlefield 5 launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 20. If you’re interested in learning more about the game, make sure to check out the latest dev diary for it.

I'm glad they announce this prior, instead of releasing a 60Hz beta, then release the game at 20Hz. But the at Launch maybe has room for improvement? I haven't played Bo4 since they did 20-30Hz but I heard you can feel the difference.

Dude this game is gonna be badass, I think it might finally blow away COD. But I might have to cop it cause I like playing both games. I enjoy having fun on battlefield. I might only grab it for the campaign for sure.

I think it's gonna be tough, but might be worth it to just wait for the PC release.

This game is gonna be off the chain too bad I dont play on PC though. I guess I will wait for the improvement which is no worry if this game is as good as expected.
