Black Ops 4 battle royale leaves PUBG’s Steam player base unscathed

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds fends off Call of Duty’s battle royale mode over launch weekend.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launched at the end of last week, along with the new battle royale mode Blackout. Rather unexpectedly, the release has left PUBG’s Steam player count relatively untouched.

GitHyp reports that PUBG only saw a 4% drop in players over Black Ops 4’s launch weekend, which was less than in previous weeks.

Black Ops was the most-watched game on Twitch with streamers like Ninja and Dr Disrespect helping to bolster those numbers.

It was also Activision’s biggest ever digital launch, and set a record for day one digital sales on the PSN Store globally.

The title is the first in the series to launch on Battle.net which explains why it did so well digitally.

I don't know how I feel about Battle Royal on BO4 but I have been hearing so good feedback from it so far.

Famous Cause COD can't do something they are not good at. They need to not follow the bandwagon and just keep doing their own shit.

So damn true. I've been saying this: they used to be the trend setters, that's when cod was good. Now they are just trying to make a trendy game and it's not working

I'd really like to see the numbers from blizzard though. It's gotta be up there.

PUBG on console us officially dead. Only reason why it's "unscathed" is because steam is so common compared to battle.net

coolbunny1234 More than likely due in part to Black Ops being a complete garbage release of a game. #BringBackWaW

I think its the best cod game since bo2 came out. Everything between bo2 and bo4 was awful (to me!)

Because the game is 60$. We still got 1 more big major release date, and that's Christmas.

Was expecting them to hurt PUBG a lot more, I guess people would rather stick to what they enjoy though instead of just playing another soon to die cod game
