Fortnite event giving creators real money for V-Bucks spent by players

4.2
Epic Games will give Fortnite community Creators a cut for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent by players in-game.

For a limited time starting next week, for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent by Fortnite players, Epic Games will give $5 to selected community Creators.

How it works, is players will select a participating Creator through either the Battle Royale or the Save The World store. Players will do this by entering the Creator’s Epic tag via the “Support a Creator” button. This is found in the Item Shop in Battle Royale, or the Loot tab in Save the World.

The Creators will then receive funds for V-Bucks purchases. This applies to free V-Bucks players have earned as well.

The amount earned will scale with the number of players who choose to support a Creator. Support for the Creator will last 14 days, or players can choose to support a different one at any time.

Epic said this is its way of saying thank you to Creators, but it will only last for a limited time. The event runs from the Fortnite update coming the week of October 8 through December 31.

Creators such as video makers, streamers, storytellers, artists, cosplayers, musicians, and community builders can apply for the event. Those who wish to apply to the program will need to meet the criteria set by Epic.

More information on the Support-A-Creator event can be found through the Epic Games website.

Spencer This is a cool idea for Epic to do, give back to people who promote there game via stream, cosplay or whatever other means possible.

I agree people will just start promoting the game more for free shit lol

Reevy Be good if friends had referral codes to give to other friends to earn V-Bucks, not being funny but these big creators earn money through donations and ad revenue, even when I had 40k on YouTube and 2k on Twitch I wasn't earning anything amazing not that I didn't appreciate it but you know what I mean. These creators don't really need it, they can easily afford V-Bucks, would be good to have something useful for people that aren't creators. To me this is just a bit pointless, I'm spending my money to basically give a small percent to someone else? I'd rather go to a friend tbh

I agree with you, pretty sure they already benefit from vbuck sales as they get paid daily or even bonuses based on sales i am sure to keep fortnite alive, it wouldnt be where it is without any of the creators of each category listed

This is certainly interesting, and speaks volumes to how much they're raking in.

It's a cool idea but are streamers that aren't as well known that still create high quality videos and streams going to still be able to be paid?

Stelter
Juul It seems unclear about what they mean by "creators" but this is still nice. I'd rather see the money go to charity though.

Did you even read the entire news story? Because the answer to what exactly they mean by creators is literally right there.

Decent idea, but the only thing will do is benefit the biggest guys out there anyway. The rich get richer basically.

I missed that part tbh lol. Still though, I'd still rather see the money go somewhere more beneficial. These guys are already out here than I will be at any entry-level job

that is just the most ridiculous thing ever.
