Mega Drive Mini Pushed Back to 2019

4.3
Earlier this year at an event called SegaFes 2018, the aforementioned company announced the Mega Drive Mini, a mini-console in the vain of the NES and SNES Classic editions. Today, PlayStation announced that they would be entering that market with the PlayStation Classic, while SEGA announced that the Mega Drive Mini has been pushed back to 2019.

This news comes from SEGA’s official Japanese Twitter account. Translated by DualShockers’ Giuseppe Nelva, the tweet states that the mini-console, which is being developed with the help of AtGames, became highly requested overseas. SEGA wants the Mega Drive Mini to be branded correctly depending on the region, and wants a simultaneous launch worldwide.

These demands likely cost stock-related issues, which likely resulted in the decision to push it back from its original 2018 release window to 2019. No specific release date or window was given, but we will be sure to let you know when one is revealed:

I don't mind. Too many mini consoles, they're loosing their touch

I love the addition of all these classic systems making a come back in mini-form, great way for kids of today or us older people to relive classics from years ago.

Love how all the retro consoles are being remade just because. They sell very well though, do like me a good blast from the past.
