PlayStation Classic Mini-Console Hitting Stores in December

3.8
The very first PlayStation console is making a comeback this holiday season. In the dead of the night (at least for the States), Sony announced the existence of the PlayStation Classic mini-console. This little device will be about 45% smaller than the original PlayStation and will contain 20 classic games.

Sony’s PlayStation Blog post mentions a few of these titles, namely Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. Expect the console to come with not one, but two original PlayStation controllers—and by “original,” I’m talking about the controller sans dual analog sticks.

The package will come with the mini-console itself, the controllers, a USB cord, and an HDMI cable. In the United States, the PlayStation Classic will come at a retail price of $99.99, with a release date of December 3—that’s the original Japanese release date of the PlayStation. The full game line-up will be revealed soon, promises the PlayStation Blog.

This is eerily similar to the NES Classic and the SNES Classic from Nintendo, both selling quite well in stores—to a fault. Let’s hope that Sony doesn’t have the same supply missteps and problems that plagued Nintendo.

See, on my Xbox One, I can already play my old games.

Why can't the PS4 do the same? Oh wait, I'm sure it could, just like they could do cross play. But Sony just doesn't want to do it. Why would they when they can do a money grab like this?

Petite This is an interesting step for sony none the less it would be dope if they could come out with a remade ps2 with like the new dual shocks thatd be hella lit

Or they could add PS2 + PS1 game backward compatibility to the PS4... like they had on the PS3. It's 100% possible and up to them. This is just a money grab.

Potion Guarantee its probably going to be used a similar hardware to PlayStation TV with a different OS.

It's basically a PlayStation TV that's bigger, more expensive and plays fewer games. I'll pass.

Mikey Thats jokes lol, I'll be buying one of these for sure. Might even have to get a few of these consoles lol.

If you buy multiple and they sell out fast you can probably make a profit
