Sales of The Last Remnant on PC to be discontinued September 4

4.2
Square Enix has announced it will no longer sell digital or physical copies of The Last Remnant on PC.

The Last Remnant will be pulled from the Steam marketplace on September 4 in North America and Europe, Square has announced.

This also applies to physical sales of the RPG. If you’ve been holding off on purchasing the game, you have one week left. Those who already own a digital or physical version game will still be able to play it, obviously.

A reason for the discontinuation was not provided. Usually in these situations, it boils down to either lack of sales or licensing issues. The game’s age could also be a factor in this particular case.

The Last Remnant debuted on Xbox 360 in fall 2008 and was released for PC in early 2009. It was at one time slated for release on PS3, but was eventually cancelled.

Upon release the game was plagued with texture and framerate issues, which the developers blamed on “misuse” of Unreal Engine.

The game is 9 years old and probably lacks updates and a player base so I guess they decided to hang it up.
