Fortnite’s Battle Royale Mode Getting Barrett-like Heavy Sniper Rifle

A few weeks back two new weapons were datamined in Fortnite. One of them was a double barrel shotgun, while the other was a new sniper rifle. Last week the shotgun was added to the game, however, there was no news about the new sniper rifle. That all changed this weekend as developer Epic Games has officially announced via its in-game news section that the Heavy Sniper Rifle is set to be added to the game very soon.

The rifle, which looks strikingly similar, if not exactly the same, to the Barrett sniper rifle featured in a slew of video games in the past, is said to be incredibly powerful, so much so that it’s able to cause massive amounts of damage to all structures, whether they be wood, stone, or metal. Whether or not it’ll do high damage to other players has yet to be seen, although one would guess that it would.

The rifle is set to be added to the game tomorrow, August 14, 2018, alongside the game’s weekly reset.

Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC, as well as iOS and, now, Android devices.

Jimbo It's in the game already and I had the chance to use it once yesterday and it's pretty strong. I feel like it should be strong. It's supposed to be a high powered sniper rifle so it's damage shouldn't be changed imo.


The only thing they could do now is either change ads time or make the reload time even longer which would be questionable

It's already in the game. I've only got to use it once, at the very end of the game and I only had 5 shots. I killed someone with one bullet like 216m away, it should be nerfed soon I imagine.
