No Man’s Sky has undergone enormous changes this week as the “Next” update landed on console and PC. Next reinvigorates the core game, adding a ton of new content including being able to play from a third person perceptive and multiplayer. However, an unfortunate side effect of this update seems to be resulting in the disappearance of players’ files.

The issue, which is affecting the game on all platforms according to Kotaku, currently sees players games being loaded from the very beginning, even though their number of hours logged is stated correctly. This essentially means that all of the progress is unavailable.

Developer Hello Games’ Founder Sean Murray took to Twitter to put players’ minds at ease today by announcing that there will be a hotfix for the issue. He stated that a build has been sent to PC, but that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One patches are proving to be a little less timely.

Next is the latest update in the ever-growing No Man’s Sky universe. It arrived earlier this week via a free patch and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
