EA on Women Being in Battlefield 5: Accept It, Or Don’t Buy The Game

3.6
Battlefield 5‘s reveal ended up sending a lot of gamers into nerd rage, when it was revealed that women would be playable in the game. Unable to accept that women would now be able to play as female characters in their beloved video game, these people decided to rally around the cry of “historical inaccuracy” in a game that lets you jump off a plane, land 400 feet on the ground without inuring yourself, while shooting at a person clean through and taking them out on the way.

Of course, these people are being absurd and ridiculous. And EA has a message to them: women in Battlefield 5 are here to stay. That is not negotiable. And if these people don’t like it, they are free to not buy the game.

In an interview with Gamasutra, EA’s COO Patrick Söderlund said, “We stand up for the cause, because I think those people who don’t understand it, well, you have two choices: either accept it or don’t buy the game. I’m fine with either or.”

Which is, damn. It’s a lot like the kinds of things Bethesda said when marketing Wolfenstein 2 last year, which criticized Nazis (which, incredibly enough, actually got people upset- you’d think criticizing Nazis would be a pretty non-controversial thing to do). I don’t even like EA or Battlefield much, but guess what, EA? You’ve earned a sale from me this year.

Battlefield 5 launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this October.

Im glad they have Women in BF5. Dont see why people would be offended.

I could care less if they add women in any game. But I'm tired of people pushing shit on others though, like this for instance. Someone may not agree with women being in the war WITH a prosthetic arm, and it's like they are labeled as hating women in general.

Then EA gets aggressive and says this. My life doesn't revolve around games so I'll gladly not buy, not because women are in the game but because of what the company is becoming. Don't be a **** sheep.

This will be an ongoing thing, EA made a vig thing abouts historical accuracy and then they add things into places that weren't there in or at the point in time, yeah there were women but 99.9% of those on the field were males, mixing it up yet saying it's historically accurate....no ea just no

Thanks battlefield, good to hear you stand up to make equals.

Good. I'm glad some one from EA said it straight.

Won't stop the SJWs from crying though. I can not wait for this game.

AD4M I literally feel they've added women into the game for equality, yes cool, I get it.

I don't think they should do it, they've never done it in any other Battlefield game, why now?

Because it's their game and they can do what they want.

DownWifDuhSyndy I understand why they are doing it, but the whole accept or don't buy it attitude is bad after star wars bf2 you would think they would tread carefully. This is why I have lost faith in EA

If people, presumably grown ass adults, are whining about it constantly and making ridiculous change.org petitions I would expect no different response. People need to grow up.

For the record, I am definitely going to play as a female character :D

Why would we not buy the game if it has females init, its a video game ffs lol, what a stupid statement.
