E3 2018: PlayStation Recap: The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding

3.7
Sony decided to kick things off with a bang, with the first game that they showed off being none other than The Last of Us Part 2, the upcoming, hugely anticipated sequel to Naughty Dog’s seminal The Last of Us, often considered to be one of the greatest games ever made.

The segment began with a jarringly anachronistic look at what seemed to be a normal party, where a grown up Ellie seemed to be enjoying with her friends, before moving to gameplay. And that’s when you realized just how pretty and gorgeous the game looks. It’s stunning. The gameplay itself seems to be an evolution of the same kind of third person stealth action as the original (although this time you play as Ellie), with a minimalist HUD. Surprisingly enough, there seemed to be no sign of Joel, while enemy AI was hugely improved (unless this was just a really scripted sequence, which it didn’t seem to be).

Destiny 2: Forsaken - E3 Story Reveal

We’ve been waiting to hear some new information for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for E3 week, and we weren’t disappointed.

The publishers over at Activision have revealed details about the Deluxe Editions for Black Ops 4 that will be available, along with some info on what fans can expect from the Season Pass. Which, in this case, is being referred to as a Black Ops Pass.

The pass will consist of 12 multiplayer maps, as well as a Zombies map at launch, four new Zombies maps and four “exclusive” characters that will be made available for the Blackout mode of the game.

But here’s the catch. It won’t be released over the course of the year, and will instead become available on a more frequent basis. A timetable wasn’t given but we can probably expect this content sooner rather than later.

The Deluxe Editions of the game are set to include some great bonus goodies. First off, they all come with the base game and the Black Ops pass. But you’ll also get COD points with each version of the game, particularly with the Digital Deluxe Editions.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is hosting its official press conference from E3 2018 in Los Angeles, and they finally provided an extensive reveal for Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima.

We finally get to see what the gameplay looks like, and boy, it’s incredible. We get to see some absolutely epic environments and things immediately switch to gameplay, set in the ninth day after the beginning of the Mongol invasion.

We see horse riding among beautiful fields, and then things move into fighting, which looks as awesome as you’d expect, almost straight out from a samurai movie. Stealth also appears to be a very relevant part of the game as the protagonist infiltrates a temple to release a monk that has been taken prisoner.

You can watch the video below. The game will come exclusively for PS4.

Death Stranding | E3 2018 Trailer

Kojima Productions has shown off Death Stranding, and we finally have a better idea of what it is…kind of.

After Sony’s E3 presentation today, we have a clearer idea of what Death Stranding, first announced at E3 2016, is – or, at least, what it might be.

We see Norman Reedus venturing through what look like playable sections in the new trailer, with a lot of clambouring and walking. Hiking, I guess you could call it. He had something on his shoulder in one shot that might be a gun. There’s a definite stealth section later on, although describing it logistically would be…difficult.

At another point Norman is shown ripping off a toenail, which is..gross. And hey, is that Lea Seydoux popping up cutscene? And eating a weird bug? Between her and Mads, this game is going to be full of excellent European accents.

As usual, we’re coming away with more questions than answers. The game’s catchphrase seems to be ‘Give Me Your Hand In Death’, which, hmmm.

The game has had a wild production history after Kojima’s split from Konami, and we’re excited to see it coming along. We’re also very confused.

Keep an eye on our E3 conference time guide for all the upcoming conference times and stay on top of all the big E3 2018 announcements.

The Last of Us Part II Looks amazing and was the only game I found really interested in, that being said I did find the Ghost of Tsushima: Gameplay Debut Trailer pretty dope, and to be honest id even buy a PS4 just to play both those games lol

PlayStation's E3 showcase had some great games, but lacked meaningful surprises, and suffered from terrible pacing and poor presentation.
