Developer Epic Games updates for Fortnite concerning mobile in a new blog post, and the studio detailed that the game’s Android release is currently being targeted for a summer release window, with more specific release date coming closer to launch.
In addition to the new details regarding an Android release for the game, Epic also described some of the planned updates coming to the game’s mobile iteration across both iOS (which is available now) and Android down the line.
A few of those updates include the recent implementation of a customizable HUD, which is now available on the iOS version and allows users to completely remap and orient the game’s display elements where they like on-screen.
Likewise, Epic also detailed that built-in Voice Chat is another feature that the studio is working to implement on mobile, which is also aimed to work in a cross-platform capacity between the game’s mobile, console, and PC iterations. Epic stated that the Voice Chat feature will also include the ability to mute one or all players, or to go back to an open microphone among everyone.
In addition to these features, Epic is also continuing to tweak the game’s performance and controls on mobile, and are also looking into ways of decreasing the mobile game’s large installation file size, and the size of the game’s patches and updates, including an option to download new content in the background. Stat tracking is also a feature that Epic Games is planning to implement this summer alongside the Android release.
Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and iOS, and is targeting a release this summer for Android.
