First of all, we get the introduction of the last two previously-unrevealed characters coming with the game. Cyrus is a scholar able to use his “Scrutinize” path action to learn more information about NPCs, Ophilia (not sure why they didn’t transliterate her name Ophelia, but oh well) is a cleric that can use her “Guide” path action to lead NPCs to where they need to go, unlocking unexpected encounters and situations.
We also get more info on talents, that are additional abilities specific to each character. Cyrus has Study Foe which is basically your usual scan or libra spell. Olberic can use Boost Defense, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Ophilia can use Summon to bring forth the help in battle of the people she guided, and so forth.
The summon-type abilities mean that you can fight with up to six people instead of four since there are two characters able to use them.
While you start with a single character of your choice, you will meet the remaining seven as you travel around. A maximum of four can be placed in the active party but can swap them in and out at the tavern. You can also play the story of all of them in a single playthrough.
