Shadow of the Tomb Raider Will Run at 4K and 60FPS on Xbox One X

After being revealed to the world earlier this year, we began receiving some of the first details on the upcoming action-adventure title Shadow of the Tomb Raider last week thanks to the game’s reveal event.

Recently, we received even more new details on Shadow of the Tomb Raider thanks to the folks over at Electric Playground. In a recent interview, studio head of Eidos Montreal David Anfossi spoke about the specs of the game and confirmed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will indeed run at 60fps in 4K resolution for those playing on the Xbox One X.

That being said, he did not mention whether the resolution will be native or use upscaling or checkerboard techniques.

Anfossi also mentioned a scene with 155 NPCs at the same time on the screen, a new lighting system, and a new rendering system to exploit the full potential of the console.

Though many other developers who create games for different platforms tend to try and make it a similar experience across all systems, it seems that Eidos Montreal will be taking advantage of the extra power that the Xbox One X boasts. This is likely due in part because the game is primarily a single-player experience compared to that of a multiplayer game where it would be necessary for all players to experience a game in a similar manner.

If you do not have an Xbox One X though, fear not, as Anfossi promises that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be just as stunning on standard consoles. “For me, that will be the most beautiful game on the Xbox One S ever done,” stated Anfossi. It seems that no matter where you play, you’re going to be in for a gorgeous experience.

Wonder if it's really going to look as beautiful as they say it's going to.

The Tech Game back at it again with false information. It will have two modes, a 4K 30fps mode, and a 1080p 60fps mode, just like the previous game.
