Sony Wants To Aggressively Promote Mobile Games, PSN Business

3.9
Sony recently held their fiscal year end financial conference for the previous business year, and as is typical with these kinds of proceedings, information on the future of the brand was presented to shareholders in the vaguest terms possible. The information within comes from that conference, right from Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki about some new directions.

While hardware and software sales have held their own, i turns out that a lot of the profit growth for Sony last year came out of the installed base of PS4 users on their network. Their interactions with not only PS+, but services like PS Now and purchasing content from the PlayStation Store have driven a huge growth. Sony stated that it’s important that they capitalize on that growth and further expand on the “stable” network services business model.

It turns out that another segment of the company, Sony Music Entertainment, has also seen a ton of growth through their popular mobile applications such as Fate/Grand Order. As this meant about 30% of their operating income to the whole segment, Sony will market these even more in the future.
