Revamped Xbox Live Avatars and customization shown off in leaked video

3.9
The revamp of Xbox Live Avatars is coming along quite nicely.

A video showing off the current state of Xbox Live Avatars was leaked earlier today.

It was pulled offline but luckily, The Verge captured the video. The internet never forgets, you know.

Dubbed Avatar 2.0, new options available are poses, moods, wardrobe changes, animations, and various hairstyle options.

In the video you’ll see many of these features demonstrated along with facial and physical customization.

Xbox and Windows 10 users part of the Preview Program have been testing the new avatars for a while. In January, update 1802.180116-1916 added Avatars to the Home screen.

Microsoft announced Avatar 2.0 at E3 2017 promising a multitude of ways to customize Xbox One and Windows 10 avatars.

Options will include new prosthetics, wheelchairs, vehicles, and props which interact with the environment. If you missed the reveal last year, you can listen to the avatar team discuss the new Xbox Live personas through the Xbox Livestream from E3. Just skip to the 1:55 mark.

In 2016 Microsoft confirmed a new Xbox Live Avatar system was in the works, which came a year after job listings for the project came to light.

Avatar 2.0 was expected to release in fall 2017 alongside Xbox One X, but Microsoft delayed the new system for additional testing.

Maze Wonder if it's gonna force me to update my avatar when it's released,

I've noticed that the current app has been renamed to Original Xbox Avatars so that may be a hint that they won't be retiring the old one's just yet?
