Epic didn’t know you could ride rockets in Fortnite until someone did

Fortnite developer Epic Games didn’t intend for players to be able to ride rockets fired from a rocket launcher, until the developer saw it happen.


Of all the weird things in Fortnite, rocket riding has to take the cake. Epic games may have envisioned certain gameplay scenarios ensuing when designing the game’s many tools, but not the rocket launcher.

The weapon was simply made to destroy forts, which it does. It wasn’t until one player decided to try and see if they can ride the rocket, since it’s represented in the world, that Epic realised there’s more to some of Fortnite’s weapons than meets the eye.

Epic’s Nick Chester mentioned this on Twitter the other day when talking about the recently released guided missile – which, by the way, can also be used as a surfboard.

I've seen a bunch of clips of the rocket riding and people destroying enemies which looks like a lot of fun. Never gave it a try myself yet, might have to do that later today when I am on.

I kinda knew this had happened wasn't sure how exactly but it is pretty cool of epic for keeping it in.

Mason95 GTFO of here! One of the team said they supported rocket riding since it came out on the 3rd update in this game in a video on there fortnite youtube channel..

Rocket riding wasn't a thing until the Halloween update that made it a pumpkin launcher and since it became a fan favorite thing to do they changed how the normal
Launcher works to also allow rocket riding
