Cities: Skylines Surpasses 5 Million Copies Sold on PC

On March 10 of this year, Cities: Skylines from Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive will turn three years old. In order to celebrate the game’s impending anniversary, Paradox revealed the high sales numbers behind the PC, Mac, and Linux versions of the game and unveiled some free Surviving Mars-themed DLC.

Since its launch on March 10, 2015, Cites: Skylines has sold over 5 million copies on PC, Mac, and Linux; that’s an impressive sales milestone for any game. That doesn’t even count the PS4 and Xbox One ports of the game that have released since the initial launch. Paradox and Colossal Order also claims that they have added over 1,000 new features to the game since its release and that Cities: Skylines has received over 144,000 mods on Steam Workshop.

As I mentioned before, the developers will be celebrating this milestone by releasing some free DLC based on Surviving Mars, another Paradox game poised to launch next week. This free content will be released on March 9, and include a Rocket City building called the Xchirp Launcher, an astronaut-themed Chirper icon, and the new Official Mars Radio Station. Surviving Mars is also available at a 10% pre-order discount on Steam for those who own Cities: Skylines.

Never really heard of this before, i occasionally see it on mixer though. Seems pretty cool!

Mikey Not at all surprised, the game is great as I played it will my friend one time and loved it.


The game is pretty fun with friends but soloing it can get a little boring and just a lot of patience. A great game and will expect it to surpass more.

Cities: Skylines is a very good game for what it is, the mod support and DLC is a very very good support of this game and a key to why the game has sold to many.

For a game I've had in my library since it launched, and, only played it about twice, pretty amazing to see it pass 5 million sales. For sure a great milestone for the company and a big party they had in their office.
