For Honor is Finally Getting Dedicated Servers on PS4 and Xbox One

3.8
One of the biggest complaints leveled against Ubisoft’s multiplayer-focused title For Honor upon release was its matchmaking system. It was peer-to-peer, which is unfavorable for multiplayer games as it can result in lag and unstable connections. Last month, Ubisoft added dedicated servers to the PC version of the game. They have now announced that dedicated servers will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game tomorrow, March 6.

According to Ubisoft, this will bring several improvements to For Honor’s online experience on consoles. This is because the switch to dedicated servers means resyncs and host migrations will no longer happen during matches thus meaning the completion rate of matches will improve.

When dedicated servers roll out on consoles tomorrow, the servers will also include all of the fixes implemented since they were added on PC, so players will have an even smoother time from the start. In order for these servers to take effect, For Honor’s online features will experience a brief period of maintenance and 9am ET on March 6.

Tom Dedicated servers are always great for reduced lag and just overall better servers in games. Glad to see this being added finally, wish we would see these in more multiplayer games nowadays.

Same. Any game without them tends to die off quickly. It's sad that they prefer money to giving people what they actually want.

For some reason I remember dedicated servers being a selling point for the new gen of consoles. Good to see them adding more, but it should be standard for all online games
