Well… being a financial document, it probably wasn’t intended exactly as a tease, but for what concerns us, it works the same way.
Activision’s library of owned IP includes classics like Spyro the Dragon, and considering what happened in 2016, more remasters of the Call of Duty franchise are possibly on the menu. Considering the fact that we’re getting a new Call of Duty from Treyarch, I don’t think you need to be a prophet to think that someone at Activision may have thought to remaster the first Black Ops.
Of course, there is also the rumored additional platforms for the extremely successful Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, even if nothing has been confirmed just yet.
It’s worth mentioning that differently from most other publishers, Activision’s measures its financial progression on calendar years and not fiscal years, which means that whatever remasters they’re planning, they’re probably coming in 2018.
“We expect to release World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and our latest Call of Duty game in the second half of 2018. In addition, we expect to deliver ongoing content for our various franchises, including expansion packs for Hearthstone and Destiny 2 , in-game events for Overwatch , and map packs for Call of Duty: WWII , as well as releases of remastered versions of titles from our library of IP. We also expect to release at least two new mobile titles during 2018, including a social casino game from King.
We will also continue to invest in new opportunities, including new titles across our platforms, and continue to build on our advertising and esports initiatives.”
