400-Player Battle Royale Mavericks: Proving Grounds Trailer Released

4.2
Mavericks: Proving Grounds may be the latest in a trend of upcoming Battle Royale games that are attempting to seize the moment wherein PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players are looking for something more. Whether it be higher fidelity graphics or a higher player count, developer Automaton games is seeking to capitalize on the genre’s success with a project that is abundant in ambition. The game’s teaser trailer recently released.

You can find the forty-second teaser below.

While it does not include any gameplay and only the silhouette of a player running through a forest, the trailer does give a taste of what is to come in terms of the game’s graphical goal. Though there is only footage of a forest and a field, the use of god rays, detailed foliage, and the echoes of gunfire and explosions can help the viewer imagine just what the game could look like.

It is important to note, however, that until we see some in-game footage there’s no telling how this game will turn out.

Mavericks: Proving Grounds is set to release in late 2018 according to their website and is reaching for more than graphical goals as the developers are planning on including up to 400 players in a match. This could mean that players who are looking for a longer match time than PUBG, which recently got a balancing patch on Xbox One, and a shorter match than Fortnite could get their wish.

Ninja Trailer doesn't reveal much which in a way makes me want to see more. Very intrigued on how they're going to manage to pull off 400 people, especially with the fact PUBG/Fortnite, can barely manage 100. Even then, the graphics are lowered especially PUBGs. Very excited to hear more.

You make some good points. The servers they will need will be massive. I hope they know what they are in for.

I know one thing for certain, if they're going to have such a huge populated sever, it'll need to be stressed test like fk.

If it catches on like PUBG and Fortnite, no servers will be able to handle that, or at least none that I know of.

Yachty i think 100 players are too many people. BUT 400.. thats crazy. pubg is already laggy for 100 what do you think its gunna be for 400??

It is alot of players. I dont think a server could handle that many people trying to land at one place xD

that would be a sight to see for sure man. I wanna hear more about this game now!

PUBG isnt really laggy due to the 100 players (unless they cant control a simple server) 400 would for sure have some minor lag points but I dont see it being a problem in the end.

Potion The trailer looks aesthetically pleasing but I am going to need to see some gameplay.

Agreed, wondering if this game will be first-person or third-person. Also the spawning and such. So many questions for a 400-player Battle Royale

This game would be very laggy and bugged with everyone trying to land and spawn all at once. I would also want to see if first or third. Most likely both tbh.

PUBG is already laggy for just a server of 100 players. Thus, Jumping out of an airplane probably wont be the go-to for this game.

Exactly. I really want to see how this game plays out. I would love to see how the server doesnt crash from that many players
