Worms W.M.D. Physical Release for Nintendo Switch Cancelled

3.8
Whereas more and more smaller games are opting for physical releases on the Nintendo Switch over the last few weeks and months, there are still some for whom it’s not entirely viable. Team17 is presumably one of them, at least as far as Worms W.M.D. goes- because they announced today that the release of the physical version of the game for the Switch has been canceled.

The confirmation of this came via Twitter, where the developers confirmed that the only way to play this game on the Switch would be to play it via the eShop. No reason was given for the cancellation, though, again, presumably, it would be the economics of the thing (especially since cartridges cost a whole lot more than discs do).

That said, the game is still available on the Switch, and it’s a very well realized version at that- you get the base game, touchscreen and Joy-Con support, a new Space theme, Mushroom and Tree House forts in Forts mode, and multiple new customization options. If you’re interested in this kind of game and haven’t already checked this out, be sure to do so.

Mikey Who has Physical copies anymore lol, like really?

True, mostly everyone is going digital now.... Which is why blockbusters closed because of Netflix coming out,

Blockbuster closed because of the netflix and prices. They had outrageous prices. I have a couple of local movie stores I still go to lmao

Family video is still running around my town and will keep running because they have cheap reasonable prices.

That is one of the reasons blockbuster failed.

I knew it was Netflix that dropped them out of the business but didnt know they had price issues too. I personally still have some VHS tapes that are still in storage at my house.
I believe that is one of the reasons. I could obviously be wrong. I do have some dvds with the old blockbuster case still somewhere in storage. Just thinking about blockbuster brings back memories.

I could see this happening a lot simply for the fact their carts cost a lot more to manufacture than disks in a day where digital has taken ober anyway

I actually use a lot of physical copies as you can resell them after you are done. This stinks that they are not getting a physical copy of this.
