Fortnite To Get 60 FPS Mode On Consoles With New Patch

3.7
Epic Games has announced that they are planning to add a 60 fps mode for Fortnite across all the available consoles for it. This means the game will now offer support for 60 FPS on the standard PS4 and Xbox One aside from the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Fortnite offers a battle royale mode in the same vein as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds but it has been limited to 30 fps since it was initially made available. Considering the impact of the game and the growing amount of concurrent users, Epic is trying their best to improve it on consoles and the addition of 60 fps should be a nice surprise for those who have been playing it since the start.

Here is what Epic had to say for the 60 fps mode
Later this month we plan to add an optional 60 FPS mode for Battle Royale on consoles (PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X). This 60 FPS mode is tuned for each console to maximize frame rate while minimizing loss of visual quality.

From the description, it sounds like Epic will employ a dynamic resolution solution here on all consoles that will keep the frame rate at 60 fps while the visuals will be mostly kept intact. In that case, the game might just work at 60 fps on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Hopefully this is true, c'mon pubg do it!

Maze Hell yeah, I can't wait for this. Wonder if a change this big while cause another server crash though

doubt it, changing FPS will more than likely not crash servers. Usually only happens when items get added or in-game content is different and every member signs in to check it out.

This is a step in the right direction. I hope other games like pubg will be on 60fps. I hope this all works out.

This is something we'll all be looking forward to, as people didn't like they removed it from PS4 etc. but great to see them working someting out for it

we will probably see a slight loss of visual quality but none to the naked eye probably. glad to see a game 60fps though for consoles, its a rare thing.
