The Duke Xbox Controller is Back and Available to Pre-Order

If you have big hands and a soft spot in your heart for the original Xbox controller knows as “The Duke”, you can play games like it’s 2001 again thanks to Hyperkin. The Duke is back for a whole new generation of Xbox consoles (Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Windows 10), and it just went up for pre-order at GameStop for $69.99.

The Hyperkin Duke controller is just as chunky as you remember, but it does have a new trick up its sleeve. The Xbox “jewel” in the center is actually an OLED screen this time around, and it acts as the home button and plays the original Xbox boot screen animation. You can see what this effect will be like in the early mockup below.


If you are unfamiliar with The Duke, you should know that it's like holding a steering wheel. Indeed, if you can't palm a basketball, you might not be ready for The Duke. Then again, nostalgia sells big-time these days, and The Duke is hard to resist in that respect. Plus, it comes with the full blessing of Microsoft.

We wouldn't be surprised if the Hyperkin Duke is hard to find when it's released at the end of March/early April so it's probably a good idea to secure one while you can.

While we're on the subject of the Xbox, you might wan take advantage of this get 6-months of Xbox Live Gold for the price of 3 deal that comes directly from Microsoft. Naturaly, that means you can get whole year with a discount if you buy two 3-month passes. Just keep in mind that codes for the bonus 3-months will be delivered to your email address within 10 business days.

You might also be interested to hear that the Xbox One S PUBG bundle is now available to pre-order. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds would be a great way to break in your new Xbox Live Gold membership, and the Xbox One S PUBG bundle comes with an additional month of membership along with a 1-month trial of Xbox Game Pass.

They were massive, but still. They were also brilliant if you wanted to throw something at someone and know it wont break. They were built like tanks.


If they scrap the hall sensors frim original Xbox one original controllers this has huge potential.

Never got a chance to use one of these, I wonder what they're like inside? Components etc. Would be awesome to mod it like a scuf/Elite.

It would. This controller was the heart of the original xbox. If they re release these and they become a hit, I can see them selling alot.


This controller of course is going to sell a ton. Just hoping we get some games compatible with it. If not im going to be really disappointed. But just the LED in the screen on the controller makes it 10x better. Can't wait to see some designs Microsoft will be doing with these controllers too.

Dragon This controller was good for its time, in my opinion. I really could not see myself attempting to do anything with it nowadays though.


ahh. This controller would bring back the glory days of the original xbox for me. I would try it at least now.
