Microsoft is NOT Buying Valve, Gabe Newell Confirms to Fan

4.2
Recently, a rumor broke out that Microsoft is looking to expand its portfolio of studios and franchises by acquiring some major game companies. EA was the name that was floated as being the likeliest possibility, but Valve was one of the other names that came up in the rumors.

At least that part of those rumors was false, however- none other than Gabe Newell, head of Valve, has confirmed so. Responding to a fan via email (which is something that he is known to do quite a bit), Newell said that he is “not aware” of Valve being bought out by Microsoft. So, that ends that.

Valve fans can therefore rest easy- the company is in no danger of going corporate any time soon. Of course, this also means that said fans’ wait for Valve to actually put out a meaningful game continues. Half Life 3 will never happen.

BB-8 I don't think Microsoft should be buying all these other companies. They should focus on what they already have.

That's not how business works. If there's an opportunity, then they should take it.

I just hope Microsoft obtains EA for the sake of their future games. EA has turned into complete garbage recently. It is good to see Valve staying the same, though. I feel like they do damn good the way they are.

Biwwy All I knew was Microsoft was buying EA.

This is a surprise for me.

But no. Microsoft ruins stuff they buy or tend too.

Minecraft cross play between all platforms?

Minecraft was already successful, it's not like they turned it into a success. All they did was provide net code for cross platform. But we won't acknowledge the plentiful amount of companies they closed down for no reason, we'll just highlight the "success"

AD4M 'Not that I'm aware of' What sort of answer is that?

It obviously means it's not happening? Lol. Gabe is head of Valve, so he would be aware if they had a deal in place..

Been a lot of speculation of them buying a few companies now are they planning to own everything at one point
