Fortnite Cross-Platform Play Accidentally Activates Again

Players are reporting that cross-platform play has once again been activated in the world of Fortnite when playing PvE. This is coming from PlayStation 4 and PC users reporting that they are seeing Xbox One players during their gameplay experience, making the "oops" from a few months ago once again back in the spotlight.

One Redditor took to the popular social forum to show off a screenshot of a PlayStation 4 exclusive showing up his Xbox One game during the Victory screen, which can be seen in the screenshot below:

A separate Reddit post inquired about Xbox One/PC crossplay when they noticed hyphens in the gamertags, which is something exclusive to the PC platform. When the player inquired about it, they reported that the response confirmed that they were PC players.

With Xbox, Valve, and Nintendo all on board - the only block really at this point is Sony. Sony has had a hard stance against cross-play since the get-go stating that they don't need, nor want, this feature in the line-up. With more and more developers pledging their support to crossplay becoming a standard, and three main platform powerhouses also ready for the move - perhaps that can change in the near future. Epic Games seems to be leading that charge because they made a pledge during the Game Awards ceremony stating that they were going to do "whatever it takes" to see this happen.

Creative Director Donald Mustard was not shy about stating that this is something that needs to happen and that he and his team do not like that players are left out due to "platform restrictions." Ending on a "players deserve it" note, the already beloved Fortnite title just got a whole new way of love, we're thinking.

It will be interesting to see if, or when, Sony responds. The pressure is on. Developers, publishers, big corporation - more and more names are beginning to lean on the idea, and idea that has been around for a long time but never saw total fruition. Could Sony finally crack and aid in giving players what they deserve?

Dragon They need to keep this feature. I think it adds to the game substantially and could possibly make it more fun for everyone. Although, PC players would have a slight advantage.

I have a few friends I would love to play with on PC, this would be crucial for me if added. Like you said, they need to keep this.

I just which they would keep this cross platform enabled it makes it so much better for everyone in my opinion especially the players who have friends on multiple platforms.
