Xbox One Outsold PS4 in December According to NPD, Switch Wins Overall

Though The NPD Group hasn’t released its full report on hardware and software sales for games in the United States for December, Microsoft head of Xbox games marketing Aaron Greenberg said on Twitter that the Xbox One had outsold the PS4.

Greenberg noted in his first tweet that the Xbox One had seen its highest December console share ever. He later followed up to a tweet questioning whether the Switch or PS4 came out on top by noting that the Xbox One had sold more than the PS4 in December as per NPD data. However, he then said that the Nintendo Switch had the most overall units. This seems to indicate that the Nintendo Switch sold the most followed by Xbox One and PS4.

Sony was no slouch during the Holiday 2017 season, selling over 5.9 million units. It seems that the Xbox One X helped propel Microsoft upwards while Nintendo continues its monumental run worldwide. Stay tuned for more information from The NPD Group regardless.

Yeah because Xbox One is better, so of course its gonna do better lol. However Nintendo killed it last year.

Agreed, that is a huge thing why consoles are at war and Call of Duty fans.

Xbox One probably also won due to the launch of the X, the console is a monster and is identical to a high end PC.

I have both the Xbox One and PS4, and I must say I get a more enjoyable experience from my PS4. I just believe the console is better developed, offering a more flawless experience than my troublesome Xbox one.

It's certainly never a surprise to here that. The Xbox has always and will always be superior thanks to the more active community and a controller which doesnt give you carpal tunnel as soon as you pick it up. Always fun to have the christmas noobs around

RepBandit I love my switch and so do my kids, just ready for some more kid friendly/family night games.
I do not know if ps4 had ever beat out xbox on anything but i could be weongy


PS4 had dominated for a while, massively outselling as a whole as well. Xbox 1 beatings PS4 in sales is a recent thing, actually..

Good on them, though. And good on the Switch for still making it so big even without any Holiday discounts.
