The current Nintendo Switch voice chat is pretty terrible. Players have to download a mobile phone app and use it to connect with voice chat to their friends. For some reason, Nintendo thought this was a better idea than simply implementing voice chat within the Switch itself.

Discord, the popular chat application similar to that of Skype recently mentioned that they’d be interested in working with Nintendo to improve their system of voice chat.

I have thought about the Switch. I have spent many hundreds of hours of my life in that little screen. If Nintendo wants us to power their voice chat, we’d be happy to talk.”

If Nintendo wants their online service to succeed in 2018, this would be a step in the right direction. So many users are familiar with Discord, having it on the Switch itself would be fantastic.
