Xbox One Backwards Compatible Releases to Resume in New Year

Since its introduction in November 2015, backwards compatibility on Xbox One has provided gamers with the chance to expand their libraries with many classics and hidden gems from the previous two Xbox generations, with more releases to come.

Xbox’s Larry Hryb (aka “Major Nelson”) has announced that the release of new backwards compatible titles on Xbox One will take a break for the holiday season until after the new year.

Alongside that, Hryb also revealed the number of backwards compatible titles released in 2017, which breaks down to 136 Xbox 360 titles, 13 Original Xbox titles, & 7 enhanced Xbox 360 titles. Given that that means over 150 total titles have been released in 2017, the Backwards Compatibility team at Xbox clearly earned some well-deserved time off.

Backwards compatibility on Xbox One was first introduced in November 2015 (after an initial surprise reveal at E3 2015), and started with Xbox 360 titles, with Original Xbox titles having been introduced earlier this year.

Since then, the library of backwards compatible titles has grown to nearly 400 games, which Xbox One owners can either purchase digitally from the Xbox Games Store, or for those that purchased the games in the previous generation, can either use their digital copy or insert a physical copy of the game into their system.

Hopefully we will see some more good titles to come in 2018.

Mw2/Mw3 would be amazing to see or a Remaster. I know a Remaster is highly unlikely but anything would be amazing to be able to play those on Xbox One.

Hopefully MW2/MW3 comes out, would really enjoy that.

New year's resolution, bring mw2 back.

lol not understanding why we cant just get MW2/MW3 :/
