Session Hopes to Revive the Skateboarding Genre on PC and Xbox One

3.6
It’s no secret that games about skateboarding have died out in recent years. Despite some teasing by EA themselves, there is currently no word on Skate 4, and the classic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series crashed and burned with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 in 2015. It’s a genre of gaming that sorely needs some attention, and creā-ture Studios is doing just that with Session, which they recently launched on KickStarter.

Session’s KickStarter campaign aims to raise CAD $80,000 (or $$62,652 USD) and has already achieved over half of that in a couple days. A prototype demo is also available on the game’s KickStarter page, so players can try it out before deciding if they want to back Session or not. If the game is successfully funded, it will release on PC and Xbox One via each system’s Early Access program.

Session has an original control scheme where players use both sticks to control each foot independently to make things feel more real and authentic. The game also features no scoring system as creā-ture Studios doesn’t want to dictate how players skate with “arbitrary point values.” Session will also feature a video editor so players can record their own tricks or those of their friends and share them on social media.

The game also hopes to add things like character and board customization, online multiplayer, a park editor, a Story Mode, and Steam Workshop support through some of its campaign’s stretch goals. If Session is a title that is successfully funded and then some, it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on.

You can check out some screenshots, gifs, and a gameplay video below to get a better feeling for how the game plays. If Session is successfully funded, it is poised to hit Early Access on PC and Xbox Game Preview on Xbox One sometime during Q2 2018.

Decy Would be down to try this out to see how it competes with skate on the controls.

There's some early access gameplay on YouTube, the controls seem very good

not trying to kill the vibe but the controls seem to be trash move left and right with triggers and do an ollie by holding down right stick and pushing up with left stick... this doesnt seem to be very good controls.

Like I understand the left stick and right stick because that is your feet but really left trigger right trigger to turn maybe I will get used to it.
