Minecraft's Major Graphics Update Has Been Delayed

4.4
The giant graphics update for Minecraft that was originally scheduled to be released later this year has now been pushed back to next year.

Aptly called the “Super Duper Graphics Pack,” the DLC was announced earlier in the year and would completely change the way that you see Minecraft. Pixelated blocks will still be the main component in the building game, but they’ll look much different than they currently do as previewed in the video above.

Unfortunately, Mojang announced during the recent MineCon Earth stream that it’ll take a while longer before the Super Duper Graphics Pack is made available for everyone. There’s no release date attached to the DLC just yet, but it won’t be making its release anytime this year.

“While originally set for release this year, there’s a lot of work to be done still and we’re not going to be ready to launch it in 2017,” a MineCon Earth recap stated. We'll be releasing Super Duper next year, and we'll have more information for you here on Minecraft.net soon.”

The differences are night and day between the base game and the graphics pack, but some of them aren’t as easily noticeable. Back in June, a post from Mojang detailed what all will be included in the graphics pack. Various forms of lighting, dynamic shadows, and more are just some of the improvements that you can expect from the graphics update.

Outside of the graphics enhancements, Mojang gave us something else to look forward to while we wait on the graphics update: An ocean overhaul. Titled “The Update Aquatic,” the new update will add plenty of enhancements and features to the watery biomes that make up so much of Minecraft’s worlds. From colorful fish to water physics to boomerang tridents, The Update Aquatic is going to look even better once it’s eventually combined with the Super Duper Graphics Pack.

Haven't played Minecraft in a long time but this may just warrant another go.

Decy Does seem they have alot of work to do before they get it right.. + with them changing the textures in vanilla they'll obviously have to address that with the pack.

They don't have too change or edit texture's for this pack... the main thing that they will be adding is animated shadows,trees,grass,water...
textures will be untouched except higher quality possibly.

Is this not just a texture pack?

To be honest I don't play much minecraft anymore but this Super Duper Graphics DLC looks great and makes me want to play the game more, suck we got to wait until next year though.

This looks like a pretty major DLC, would rather have it released fully working than released too early and buggy as hell. Still, a little annoying.
